I'm a New York-born, Hong Kong-raised Filipino with a degree in Chinese Literature from Reed College. Before I jumped into radio, I was a Dean's Fellow at Yale-NUS, where I helped build community at Singapore's first liberal arts college.

Before I started working at Illinois Public Media, I produced radio for KBOO, XRAY.FM, Portland Radio Project, and OPB. I was also the founding producer of Racist Sandwich, a podcast that explores the intersections between food, race, class, and gender. In 2015, I was an AIR New Voices scholar.

Also, it's Monte-SEAL-yoh.
